Saturday Hike

We decided to venture out and go on a hike since it was so beautiful out Saturday morning. We found a really nice trail close by, packed our stuff, and were on our way!
Sophie was a champ and walked the whole way with little to no complaining. Noah did pretty awesome too and only needed help during the narrowest parts of the trail.
Here's Noah before our break point. This part of the trail wasn't so fun for him!
Sophia was chillin' at the trailhead as we caught up to her.
This is where Daddy ended up on the hike while I tended to the kids who were starting to get a little tired (who am I kidding....I was tired too, but the kids are a great excuse).
On the tail end of our morning hike, Sierra took a break and the kids took advantage of the photo op. All in all, we had a great time enjoying the outdoors and spending time together! Now we're ready to hit the pool!

School's out for summer!

Because I'm just not in a story-telling mood, I thought I'd sum up the highlights of my week so far:

  1. I'm in my first official week of summer break and I have yet to make a trip to the pool. I've also managed to screw up my sleep schedule in record's time.
  2. Tim is watching a documentary on the history of suspenders (right, the ones that hold your pants up). He keeps commenting and asking me to watch.
  3. Sophie was sick this whole week, hence our lack of trips to the pool. It's been a tough road....let's just say I hate webmd and I hate how my anxiety peaks in the middle of the night when I have nothing to do but pretend I'm a doctor.
  4. Sophie and Noah experienced their first Dairy Queen blizzard. They both had Oreo blizzards, but Noah kept calling them Mario Wizards (that's enough Mario Kart for him).
  5. I gave Noah and Tim a much needed haircut. Unfortunately, only one of them walked away without having to locate the nearest hat. Good thing Noah's hair grows fast!! Funny how I did the exact same thing to him this time last year.....it's like tradition.
I'm sure there is more to tell, but this is all I can think of in my short week. I'm certain the weekend will bring lots of fun stories!

Nascar 2010

Tim received free tickets to the Nascar race this weekend, so we spent Father's Day at the track in Sonoma! Noah was so excited to see all the fast cars that it made it such a worthwhile trip for all of us. We got to see the cars up close and had great seats for the race. Here's some pictures from the day!
Noah and Daddy checking out the pit area before the race. Noah waiting patiently for the race to start!

Sophie showing her excitement for the race....thankfully, she perked up when the race actually started! The kids and Daddy in front of the big rig!
Sophie and Noah made the big screen! I think Noah kept waiting for Lightning McQueen to show up....I'm sure this message confused a lot of non Disney Cars fans!
Go #43! Faster!

Softball Champions!

Tim had his last softball game of the spring season and we were actually able to attend since it was early enough in the evening! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take as many pictures as I would have liked of the game because I was too busy chasing a bunch of little boys getting into mischief. So, I didn't get to see one of Tim's at-bats, but I heard he played well and they won the championship!!
I was too busy watching Noah and his buddies as they ran around non-stop on the trail behind the field. I'm not kidding when I say they were getting into everything they weren't supposed to at least once every 2 minutes! I tried to pawn them off on Sophie and asked her to watch them, but she didn't go for it.

I'm hoping we'll have more luck watching Tim play during his summer season!

Last Day of School!

Sophie had her last day of kindergarten today! She was so excited to spend the day with her friends at the park as they celebrated with a big party! Congratulations Sophie! We are so proud of you!
Can you believe how much this little girl has grown? The top is a picture of the very first day and a very grown up and confident little girl on the last day of school!

Sophie's First Tooth!!!

I can't believe Sophie lost her first tooth! Next thing you know, we'll be sending her off to college (okay, a little overdramatic). Thankfully, Sophie was pretty brave and let me help her with the first one. I was able to remain relatively calm, despite the fact that Tim cringed, ran away, and screamed like a girl (I'm not being overdramatic on this one). The tooth fairy came to visit, but she wasn't allowed in Sophie's bedroom. She didn't want anyone coming into her room and messing with her pillow or anything else, for that matter. When she explained this to me, it helped me understand how freaky the concept is if you think about it! So, we left her tooth in a safe little ring box by the front door. No reason for the tooth fairy to roam around our house in the middle of the night! Congratulations Sophie!

Memorial Day

We started our day with a drive through the peninsula and stopped at the US National Cemetery in San Bruno on our way in to San Francisco. We wanted to take the opportunity to honor the amazing men and women who have served our country and share with our children just why this day is so important. They may forget 95% of what we talked about today, but we do believe they walked away with a little more understanding. A heartfelt thank you to my Dad, uncles, Tim's grandfathers, other loved ones, and all armed forces for their service to our country.

Noah's trip to the dentist

Noah just LOVES going to the dentist. He gets so excited, jumps in the chair, and opens his mouth wide. Okay, maybe not. But, he is just so darn cute sitting in his chair I had to take a picture! Plus, you can see he had headphones on because he was watching Disney's Cars movie while they were cleaning his teeth! Can it get any better than that?
