Give Me the Goods!!!

The kids have been miserable for what seems like forever; the days are okay, but the nights are tough. After Sophie had such a horrible coughing fit this afternoon and proceeded to throw up on me, I had decided enough was enough. They have had this horrible cold and every symptom imaginable for at least two weeks.....they must have an ear infection, bronchitis, sinusitis, some sort of "-itis" was what I was putting money on. So, I drag the whole family out to a pediatric urgent care this evening because we, meaning I, could not stand another night of running back and forth between their bedrooms.

Anyway, we get to the office and of course I have no idea how it works. Who knew you had to make an appointment with this particular urgent care? Isn't the whole idea based on the fact that someone can walk in if they need "urgent care?" How do you plan for urgent care? Anyway, I could go on and on, but I won't. I ended up setting an appointment for the kids an hour later (seriously, I know) and we got something quick to eat and returned. Of course, the doctor tells me every toddler in town is down with this cold and that there really isn't much I can do. They are breathing fine, no signs of an ear infection or respiratory infection, so my best bet is to wait it out and continue doing what I'm doing. Really Doc? I swear I was ready to grab him by the neck and say, "Just give me the pink stuff, man. Please, I can't go another night like this....just give me the drugs!" Instead, I breathed a sigh of relief that my kids are not suffering from something horrible like bronchitis or an ear infection and we trudged home anxiously awaiting the night to come. And so far, Noah's been up three times and Sophie's been up twice. Oh, the night is young.

Here is the first problem...the doctor was a "HE". "HE" has probably never stayed up with the kids until the wee wee hours of the night, "HE" has probably never woke up because the kids were coughing and wondered if their breathing is OK... need I say more? I hope they get better really soon for everyone's sake!

I think that cold is going around the whole country. I think Alexis was up about 3 times too coughing and crying and asking for another glass of water. I think the next time I get my hands on the "pink" stuff, I will make sure and save a few extra droppers full for those sleepless nights.
