Who Needs the Wii.....

...when you can have a big brown box? Remind me again why I have a house full of toys that I continuously trip on, stub my toe on, and constantly pick up? Yet more proof that a child needs very little to excite the imagination.

I think Noah is becoming a "blankie" kid. He loves this green blanket and carries it around with him just about everywhere.
Every once in a while, my children surprise me and actually look at the camera at the same time. Here's the evidence.

PTSD

It's official, Sophie is completely traumatized from the whole poop-in-the-tub incident. She now refuses to take a bath with Noah and when I physically forced her to do so, she screamed her head off and watched Noah's bottom the whole time she was in there. I thought I could convince her Noah would never do it again (a flat-out lie on my part), but she didn't buy any of it and cannot handle sharing a tub with a potential tub pooper. So, my days of easy baths are over. It's back to separate baths and lots of me getting soaking wet in the process.

Stinky with a capital S

Noah thought it would be fun to poop in the bathtub not just once this evening, but twice. I get Sophie and Noah in the tub to bathe and literally 2 minutes later, just as I had them both lathered up, I see a couple of logs floating in the tub. Remaining fairly calm, I scream for everyone to evacuate quickly and call Tim for assistance. My first mistake was asking for help from Tim. Besides the fact that he totally shook me off, there seemed to be some sort of invisible force that kept him from actually crossing the doorway into the bathroom.

Cue to second round of bathing.......I emptied all the toys out for proper disinfection later and cleaned the tub. Good thing the kids are behaving and just playing in the bathroom while I do this. Get them in a second time and just as I get the shampoo lathered in their hair, yet another grunt and even more logs appear in the tub. Sophie literally leaps into my arms while screaming, "I want out!" and Noah is giggling and seems to look fairly "relieved."

If Noah does this again, his next bath is going to involve a green hose and the great outdoors.

Perspective

Nothing like back-to-back episodes of John and Kate Plus 8 (that's right, 8 kids.....1 set of twins, 1 set of sextuplets) to put things in perspective. I'm just finishing up the second episode (check it out....TLC) and I am hooked. How these people do it and how they don't have a nervous breakdown in front of the camera is beyond me. It's almost 11 o'clock at night and I feel the urge to wake up Sophie and Noah and smother them with hugs and kisses. It does seem like such a fun family.....although my bird's eye view is from my couch through the T.V. and not actually living it!

Fashion Show

A special thanks to Grammy for all the beautiful outfits! Sophie is especially excited to wear this one to school on Tuesday!!!

Princess Sophia

Every day I come home and Sophie is either wearing her Sleeping Beauty or Snow White dress, complete with shoes and crown. Thank goodness we haven't had any battles about wearing this out shopping or to school because I'd most likely lose!

BTW......In case anyone lost sleep over it, I found my camera (I'm an idiot, let's just leave it at that). And just so you know (I'm talking to you Nat), I've only lost ONE camera in my life and I hold true to my story that my camera was STOLEN, not lost. Either that or it's found a home underneath the deck at some house on E. 17th.

Camera, Where Are You?

I'm trying to remain as calm as possible, but at the moment my camera has mysteriously "disappeared." Tim and I have searched the house, minus the kids' rooms, have pointed fingers at one another, and finally came to the conclusion that it is very likely a 3-year-old or 1-year-old is to blame. I wouldn't be surprised if this theft involved some sort of team effort on their part. I tried to quietly search their rooms in the dark and was two seconds away from waking up Sophie and interrogating her, but I held myself back. It's not like it's this small camera that can get stuck between the couch cushions. It's a full-size digital, heavy and as big as can be......so frustrating, to say the least! I guess we'll have to wait until morning before search efforts resume......I mean, it can't just walk away, can it?

Sweet Noah

Noah is slowly morphing into a little man. He seems to be blabbing new words every day, his most recent being the word "car." Lately though, I've had a little glimpse into what toddlerhood might be like. To preface, I've been pretty blessed with Sophie in that she doesn't really throw tantrums (she has her normal whiny moments, but I think I've been pretty lucky so far), but I'm starting to wonder about Noah. The other day I caught him playing with Tim's laptop when it was left open and when I went to confiscate it, he literally threw himself to the ground and screamed his head off. It took him a while to recover (my laughing at him probably didn't help matters), but I'm a bit concerned about what I'm in for when he actually enters his prime for this kind of stuff! I'm certain it's going to be a challenge and I might be totally in for it, but I have to say for now.....he's pretty damn cute even when he is screaming his head off!

Daddy's Home!!!

After spending this past week taking care of the kids all by myself, we were soooo excited to pick up Daddy from the airport today!! Tim was enjoying warm, sunny Florida and attending a golf industry show while Mommy was home keeping the kids and Sierra entertained (nothing sunny and warm here....it was rainy and cold everyday!). I was glad for Tim that he was able to get away for a while and spend some time with old friends; however, I am the first to admit there were certainly moments when I was feeling just a tad bitter (like when Tim calls to tell me how he was out the night before until 2:30am with his friends!). Anyway, hopefully things will return to normal for us this week and Daddy will happily give me a hand!
