Ballerina

Sophie has started ballet class for this year and she is way too excited for it. I'm trying not to sound negative because I am very happy and excited for her too, but unfortunately, she is not nearly as excited about soccer. I ended up making a deal with her, telling her she can't do ballet this year unless she gives soccer a fair chance. So, she thought long and hard and finally decided she'd give soccer a try, but she pretty much guaranteed she wasn't going to like it. That doesn't start until March, so I have time to encourage her!

As for me, I'm trying not to take it too personally because I was the EXACT same way when I was young and I ended up loving sports. Now if she tries to convince me cheerleaders are athletes too, we might start having serious issues.

(truth be known if my grandchildren are playing it I will learn to love it but in my book the only big round ball they should be playing with goes OVER a net!...considering I am about as athletic as domino I probably have a lot of nerve publishing this post)

I think soccer is a fine sport! Very popular in Italy and since I'm 1/2 Italian I think that is good! Not to mention my son was and still is involved in soccer, and he's a dad now! I think Lori isn't really 1/2 Italian, she's all about the German side of the family and they're a minority!

I also love ballet - again must have something to do with the "cultural side" of the family-you know - the Italians!

Soccer is wondeful!!! I love it so much I still play it three nights a week. Maybe some nice pink socks to wear will help??? Tell her she can still be a princess and play soccer...

Jeff and I are marveling at how much Sophie has grown in this photo. She truly is your mini me. She is going to love anything competitive if she is your kid... no worries. She will be out on the soccer field tearing it up once she learns it is all about running!

Have you told her yet that it would be ok to push the boys around on the soccer field??? That might help.

Wow what a grown up little girl. She looks very excited for her first class. In due time I think she will grow to like soccer too.
