Our Own Reality Show

Tim and I made the unfortunate mistake of taking the kids to the mall on a Monday night. We thought we would be proactive in anticipation of Administrative Professionals Day. We had a few gifts to get so we thought we could endure a quick trip to the mall. We figured we'd finish off the evening with a seemingly harmless dinner at CPK. Noah was in his usual restless mood and wanted nothing to do with anything we put in front of him, food included.

We begin the event surrounded by no one and within 3 minutes, we were pretty much feeling claustrophobic. Tables are open everywhere, but somehow these families end up sitting on top of us. We were fine until we were subjected to the Lee Jeans-wearing-family and it's mother. Every single whimper that came out of Noah's mouth prompted a stare from this mom. And it wasn't an "oh he's so cute" stare. It was a stare that made us feel like aliens from another planet. She flat out turned her chair and pretty much watched us the entire evening, ignoring her own damn table. She didn't seem mad at us and she didn't even seem annoyed. She seemed almost fascinated, like we were the Jolie-Pitt clan and she wanted an autograph. Tim and I just kept looking at each other, all the while feeling these pair of eyes on us the whole time! Naturally, because Noah is screaming and because we can't stand the paparazzi next to us, we practically inhale our dinner and hightail it out of there. Yet another enjoyable night out for the Youngberg family.

I totally know why famous people wear sunglasses all the time, even indoors. I just wanted to disappear into thin air!!

You should have asked her if:

1) She applied for the "Worst Dressed Family in America" on What Not to Wear

2) If she wanted any parenting tips from you

Good thing "discretion is the better part of valor" means something to you. :)

As you were leaving you should have told ole' MOM jeans (SNL) to "take a picture, it lasts longer"...maybe you should have had Sophie do it since it sounds like something a 3 year old would say. You are in the two kid club, shouldn't you have the "if you do not want to hear my kids, don't sit next to me attitude" by now? I am almost there...almost.

Moms wonder why it's so difficult to lose the baby weight after birth. It's because most of the time we don't even notice what we are putting in our mouths when we eat. We are more concerned with who is crying, who is looking, and what we need to do to make both stop! Linda (coach) was over this evening. She mentioned she saw your family while they were on the road competing. I thought you would like to know that she couldn't get over how beautiful your kids are.

That's hilarious!! I could just see you and Tim at dinner. Who wears Lee jeans??? I didn't even know they still existed.
