Quick Updates

  1. Sophie has started softball. So far so good. She's loving it and I am practicing some good self-control and patience.
  2. Tim and I got rid of our SUV and purchased a new, more practical vehicle for our family. It might have sliding doors and might be driven by stereotypical soccer moms, but hey, it also has a DVD player and hidden storage! Don't judge because I know half of you envy it's ease and practicality (because I did every time I drove with a friend of mine!). Let's just say I got over my issues and am happy with my purchase.
  3. Noah's transition to a big boy bed has been a success (minus tonight when he had his first accident and I had to change sheets at 2am.....which is why I am awake now). He's been great and loves his new bed!
  4. Sophie and Noah have started their chore charts. They each have 5 age-appropriate tasks (you know, like mowing the lawn, doing the laundry, washing dishes, paying bills....please sense my sarcasm) to complete and have the potential to earn a couple of bucks a week based on their success. I am still explaining why expectations are not included on the chore chart (meaning brushing your teeth, eating all of your dinner, doing your homework, etc......yeah guys, those are expected...sorry!). We're working on it, nonetheless!
There's more to share, but these are just a few tidbits for now!

Congratulations on the new, more practical vehicle that might have sliding doors and hidden storage! You did better than me...I didn't get my first family friendly vehicle that may have had sliding doors until the entire family consisted of adults (chronologically speaking, that is).

1. Way to go Sophie, please just be really good and fast otherwise mommy might not be able to practice such good restraint.
2. Tim please snap a pic of your lovely wife in said vehicle...still waiting and congratulations on going to the dark side.
3. Nice work Noah!
4. Let me know how the "expectation" talk goes, I need some help on that one also. I am going to start asking for an allowance every time I have to make her breakfast, take her to school, and overall just watching her...

Well, if it makes you feel any better, my parents (ages 65 and 64) just purchased a new practical vehicle similar to the one you describe and absolutely love it. My mom loves it because of the sliding doors on both sides (and the back door opens with the touch of a button on her key) and the fact that it is lower to the ground - both very important qualities in a car when lugging your sewing machine to sewing classes twice a week. Same church, different pew...but it is nice, I even like it and would consider one as my next car.

Was it the Sienna commercials that finally got you over to the dark side? :o) I think said vehicles rock and I don't even have kids!

I like the idea of a chore chart. How is it working out? I may have to try it. Emily is not too young is she?
